Dorothy I. Wagner, 97, of Tilden Township, passed away in her residence on Friday morning with her family by her side. Born in Tilden Township on September 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Carrie E. (Meyer) and Harry S. Epler. She was a 1934 graduate of Hamburg High School. Dorothy was a member of First U.C.C., Hamburg where she was the 1 st female Deacon and Elder and where she taught Sunday School for 40+ years. She loved music and singing and shared her passion in church and the community. Dorothy worked as a carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 8 years and retired in 1967. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. Wagner Sr. in 1991 and to whom she was married for 56 years; son, Rev. Dr. Stanley Wagner Jr.; and brother, Charles Epler. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon E., wife of Richard Francis, of Hamburg; grandchildren: Matthew Wagner, Karen Wagner-Sanford, Carrie Francis Bailey, Eric Francis, Tracy Francis, and Annie Francis; great grandchildren: Dylan Wagner and Heather Wagner, Grace and Owen Sanford, and Rhys Bailey; daughter-in-law, Lynda B. Wagner; caregiver, Berthy Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Burkey and Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4 th St., Hamburg with Rev. Susan Ohl officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Township.
