Dorothy Irene "Cookie" (Williams) Peffer, 81, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Reading Hospital. She was the wife of the late John F. Peffer. They married on September 18, 1965, and shared 59 years together until his passing on July 31.
Born in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Blaine Jay and Mary Elizabeth (Frank) Williams. Cookie graduated from Easton Area High School in 1961, where she was a majorette with the marching band and mascot. She then graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School as an R.N. She shared her love for children as a pediatric nurse at Easton Hospital, followed by her several decades of employment at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic School, where she was known to all as the "Lunch Lady".
Cookie poured her love into her children and grandchildren, always proud of their accomplishments until her last breath. Her love of sports was shared through countless hours of service in the Leesport Athletic Association. Cookie loved playing bingo and cheering for her favorite sports teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Cookie was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, John P. Peffer (Tamara) and Matthew J. Peffer (Jennie), grandchildren: Emily C. Peffer (Stephen W. Worrall), Luke J. Peffer, and Julia E. Peffer.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, parents, Blaine and Mary, and brother, Blaine J. "Muzzy" Williams.
A memorial service for Cookie and Big John will be held on August 23, 2025, from 1 pm to 2 pm at their home at 309 Degler Avenue, Leesport. All attendees are invited to stay for food and beverages to follow immediately after the celebration of their lives. No formal dress is required.
