Dorothy Middleton

Dorothy (Gary) Middleton, 98, of Norristown, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2017, in the Reading Hospital.

Dorothy was the wife of Thomas R. Middletown who passed away in 2001.

Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Dare and Mary Jane (Homewood) Gary.

Dorothy was a 1936 graduate of Norristown High School. She went to the Philadelphia School of Occupational Therapy and worked as an occupational therapist at Pennhurst State School and Hospital.

She worked as a librarian at Norristown Public Library for over six years.

Dorothy was president of the Board of The Children's Aid Society of Montgomery County which is now known as Carson Valley Children's Aid.

Dorothy was an avid bridge player who belonged to at least four bridge clubs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two children: Susan M., wife of Michael H. Bolton, Mohnton; and Ann L. Singley, Ocean Pines, MD; one grandson: Brian G., husband of Danielle (Kochik) Bolton, Eldersburg, MD; and three great grandchildren: Alec, Gavin, and Jillian.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
