Dorothy Venona Messner

Dorothy Venona Messner, 91, of Alsace Township, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 in the St. Joseph Medical Center Emergency room.

Her husband, Earl Messner passed away on January 30, 1991.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late William and Mamie (Downer) Yoder.

She was a self employed caterer lastly working with the Crystal Restaurant, Reading for 20 years prior to retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Salem Shalter's Lutheran Church, Alsace Township. A kindhearted woman who was always available to help anyone, she loved all the Philadelphia Sports teams and enjoyed High School Sports as well.

She is survived by her Sons: Lee W. Messner and wife Marilyn of Temple and Jeff D. Messner and wife Pat of Fleetwood and a Brother: Donald Yoder of Fleetwood. She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Gregg, Kevin and Branden Messner and Nicole Vandervort, Tara Hall and Tami Merryman. Also surviving are 6 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a Grandaughter: Beth Leann Messner and a Great Grandson: Keegan Hall.

Services will be held in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main Street, Oley, on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gibraltar. Friends and family may view on Friday from 9:30-11:00 am. Contributions may be made to the Oley Valley Youth League, 446 Bertolet Mill Road, Oley, Pa. 19547.
