Dorothy Louise Leas, affectionately known as Dot or Gdot, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on October 14, 2025. Dot was born on November 8, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA, to Stephen J. Kunder and Anna L. (Frank) Kunder. She attended Bartram High School and, upon graduation, went on to earn a degree in Education from West Chester University.
Dot loved the beach and spent her high school and college summers working various jobs on Long Beach Island, NJ. While at the Jersey Shore, she often visited Ocean City, NJ, where she met her future husband, Raymond T. “Ted” Leas.
Ted and Dot were married in Philadelphia on December 30, 1955, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. While Ted was in the Army, the couple moved to Monterey, California, where they spent three wonderful years exploring the West Coast. After learning they were expecting their first child and wanting to be closer to family and friends, they returned to Pennsylvania, purchasing a home in Wilshire before later settling in Wyomissing.
After returning east, Dot briefly taught elementary school students in the Wilson School District. Once her three daughters were born, she chose to stay home to raise them. When her daughters grew older, Dot worked at Vanity Fair and later at Pioneer Title Company.
Dot loved gardening, playing bridge and pinochle with family and friends, cheering for the Phillies, attending Atonement Lutheran Church, and making memories with her family on Long Beach Island. Later in life, she cherished time spent with her five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous “granddogs.”
Dot is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Jacques) Jacobson and Catherine (Julian) Chang; grandchildren Max (Megan) Nice, Phillip (Stephanie) Nice, Nick (Taylor) Hunsberger, Courtney
Chang, and Luke Chang; and her great-grandchildren Liam, Lola, Stella, Lennan, and Maverick. She was predeceased by her daughter Nancy (Frederick) Nice and her beloved husband, Raymond.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church at the above address.
