Dorothy A. Lemanek

Dorothy Angela (Futej) Lemanek, 91, passed away November 7, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Pieja) Futej.

She was the beloved wife of Leon P. Lemanek, with whom she celebrated 74 years of marriage.

Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Reading High School.

She was a long time parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church, Reading.

Besides being the best mother in the world, Dorothy enjoyed shopping, gardening and most importantly, spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, Carolyn, wife of David Baird; Walter, husband of Terry Lemanek; Deborah, wife of Michale Heffner; and Donna, wife of Andy Stoudt. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amy, Melissa, Seth, Tara and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Isabella and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her three siblings, Robert Futej, Theodore Futej and Theresa Clay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 12 p.m, in St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 322 S. 5th St., Reading PA 19602, with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Reading. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the church. Edward J.
