Dorothy M. Lamm

Dorothy M. (McLoud) Lamm, 90, passed away December 26, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus, Easton.

Her husband, E. Donald Lamm, died on September 17, 2014. They were married on December 28, 1946.

Dorothy was a graduate of Wilson High School in 1942 where she was salutatorian and Kutztown University in 1945 earning a B.S. degree in Elementary Education.

She worked for the West Reading School District as a 2nd grade teacher. Later, she was a substitute elementary school teacher and reading specialist for all the elementary schools in the Wilson School District. She then became the developmental reading specialist at Wilson Central Jr. High School from 1969 until her retirement in 1985.

Dorothy was a lifelong and founding member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, West Lawn, serving as a deacon, elder, choir director, sang in the choir, Sunday School Teacher and was a longtime member of the Women's Ministry.

She was also a member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America; served as a playground leader during WWII; was an avid reader, listening to books on tape even in her later years. Dorothy matched her husband's enthusiasm for all sports.

Dorothy played the piano and organ. She enjoyed playing accompaniment for the orchestra, musicals and plays at both Wilson High School and Kutztown University.

Most importantly, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two children: Carole L., wife of Craig Zieger, Bethlehem and Eric D. Lamm, Wyomissing; one sister, Mary, wife of Clinton Clubb, Oxford, MD; four grandchildren: Christopher, husband of Lauren Zieger; Emily Zieger; Benjamin and Erin Lamm and two sisters-in-law: Ann and Jean Lamm and a brother-in-law, John Gross.

Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen L. Lamm in 1956 and her sister, Kitty Ann.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's U.C.C., 2901 Curtis Rd, West Lawn, with her pastor, the Rev. Kris Hayden officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in St. John's (Hain's) Church Cemetery.
