Dorothy I. Delong

Dorothy I. (Hemmig) DeLong, 97, died May 17, 2013, in Manor Care, Laureldale.

Her husband, Marshall A. DeLong, died July 4, 1995.

Born June 1, 1915, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Albert A. and Bessie May (Shade) Hemmig.

Dorothy was a member of Swamp Lutheran Church, Denver, PA.

Surviving are her daughter Diane L. (DeLong) Hiester of Temple, and her son Richard A. DeLong of Virginia. Seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by her son, Robert M. DeLong; and nine siblings.

Dorothy enjoyed raising her grandchildren, roller-skating in her younger years, and crocheting.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
