Dorothy C. Hummel

Dorothy (Hurst) Hummel, 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Berkshire Center, where she resided. Dorothy was the wife of Ralston "Rollie" Hummel, who passed away in 2010.

Born in Reading, Dorothy was the daughter of the late George Hurst and Estella (Mackrich) Hurst. A graduate of Reading High School, Dorothy enjoyed a long career in retail, working for Pomeroy's and Walgreen's. After that, she worked for 30 years as Department Manager with Bonton in Reading. Dorothy was of the Methodist faith. Her heart for service inspired her to spend her spare time volunteering for the Reading Hospital.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Vincent DeNunzio, husband of Ann, of Bayonne, NJ and Keith DeNunzio, husband of Suanne, of Brick, NJ. Stepdaughters: Diane Obrey, Lyndell Bomberger and Lisa Hummel; and sisters: Shirley Schweitzer and Georgeanne Hurst, as well as two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11:00am on July 18, 2025, at Alsace Cemetery, 2155 Kutztown Road, Reading.
