Dorothy J. Hegarty

Dorothy J. (Snyder) Hegarty, 97, of West Reading, died October 28, 2012, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Her husband, Thomas J. Hegarty, Jr., died July 26, 1985.

Born in Rehrersburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Sadie (Moyer) Snyder.

She was a graduate of Reading High School.

Dorothy was employed as a legal secretary for Atty. Harold Blumberg, retiring in 1987.

She was named Pennsylvania Legal Secretary of the Year in 1981.

Dorothy was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Thomas J. husband of Catherine A. (Daly) Hegarty, Charlottesville, VA and her nephew, Michael Snyder, England. Five granddaughters and 16 great-grandchildren also survive her.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Contributions may be made to: Hope Lutheran Church, 601 N.
