Dorothy J. Foxhall, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in the care of Reading Hospital. She was the loving wife of George F. Foxhall, with whom she shared over 62 years of marriage.
One of nine children born to the late Francis and Laura (Robare) Duclos in Contoocook, NH, Dotty was raised on the family farm and graduated from Concord High School. Determined to build a good life, she relocated to Worcester, MA where she trained at Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. It was there also that she met her husband-to-be George, who was attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). A chance meeting at a fraternity party began the bond that led to a wonderful marriage that was to last a lifetime. By the time she retired, she had become qualified as a cardiac nurse.
Dotty loved the sport of skiing. She became an excellent skier and professional ski instructor, reaching a Level II certification. She and George enjoyed many years working together as instructors and recreational skiers. They taught skiing locally at the Heidelberg/ Blue Marsh Ski Area, and also for five years in Colorado at Winter Park. The teaching ended around age 70, but they continued to ski into their 80's. They shared wonderful ski vacations across the country in the West and New England.
In addition to her husband, Dotty is survived by her sons, David of Brea, CA and Bradley, husband of Kimberley, of Wexford, PA; grandchildren: Heather, Taylor, Colin, and Cameron; and great-grandchildren: Carter, Florence, and Phoebe.
In George's own words, "My Dotty was the finest person I have ever known. She was loving, kind, generous, thoughtful, honest, and loyal. She was a wonderful mother, raising her sons to be successful adults and gentlemen. She was a wonderful wife, loving me and supporting me in so many ways. She loved me with all her heart, as I loved her. Not a day went by without us expressing those affections. We were partners and best friends. My gratitude for our life together is without bounds."
Services are private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
