Dorothy M. Dowling, 75, of Snyder Road, Spring Township, died of natural causes Feb. 6 in her residence.
She was the wife of William C. Dowling.
Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Cora (Pearson) Gantz.
Dowling had been employed for 36 years as a music teacher, first in the Lancaster area, then at West Reading High School from 1951 until 1969.
Following West Reading School District's merger with the Wyomissing Area School District, she taught music at Wyomissing Middle School until her retirement in 1986.
Dowling was a 1946 graduate of Reading High School and received a bachelor's degree in music education in 1950 from West Chester State Teacher's College.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring.
Dowling was a singer with the area semi-professional group "Sentimental Seven".
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
