Dorothy E. Bond

Dorothy Elizabeth (Vernon) Bond, 80, of Wyomissing, died February 9, 2008 at 1:30 pm in the Emergency Room at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center.

She was the widow of George Albert Bond, who died October 26, 2002.

Born in Ardmore, PA on January 28, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Forrest Sr., and Elizabeth Margaret (Naylor) Vernon.

She was a 1946 graduate of Lower Merion High School.

Dorothy was employed a number of years with AVON, Newark, Delaware, last working as a district manager in 1972.

She was a life long member and past officer with the Wyomissing Garden Club.

Dorothy was also the founder and past director of the Valley Forge Chapter of the AARP.

She is survived by three children; Linda S. Bond of Schwenksville; George A. Bond of Centre Township and Dorothy J. Bond of Wyomissing.

Other survivors include five grandchildren; Victoria L. Eckert, Devon J. DeCusatis, Ann M. Detavernier, Dustin J. DeCusatis and Sarah R. Bond.

There are also four great grandchildren; Tyrus J. DeCusatis, Jacob Detavernier, Andrew R. Eckert and William Detavernier.

She is also survived by her best friend, Dojjae.

Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Forrest Vernon Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with the Rev. Richard H. Summy officiating. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6:30 pm until time of services. Burial will be in Washington (Valley Forge) Memorial Chapel, Upper Merion Township.
