Dorothy R. (Kiehl) Bittler, 81, of 102 Monroe Street, Hyde Park, Reading, Pa 19605 died August 16th at 2:15 am in St. Joseph's Hospital where she had been since Friday.

She was the wife of Harvey A. Bittler, married February 28, 1948.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Alfred John and Myrtle Ruth (Laudeman) Kiehl.

She was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Bittler was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, Hyde Park, where she taught Sunday School, was a Blue Bird Leader, Den Mother for Cub Scouts, Camp Councilor and volunteered in the soup kitchen.

She worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper for various industries, last working for G&G Western of Laureldale until her retirement.

Bittler was a WWII Marine Veteran.

She is also survived by a son, Dennis H. husband of Patricia E. (Greth) Bittler of Lititz, Lancaster County and a daughter, Diane E. (Bittler) wife of Larry S. Laub of Lenhartsville.

Other survivors include two brothers, Charles Kiehl of Shafferstown and Ronald Kiehl of Riverview Park.

She is also survived by three sisters; Olivette (Kiehl) Edinger of Stowe, Montgomery County, Mary (Kiehl) Larson of Adamstown and Ellen (Kiehl) Hoffer of West Reading.

There are also four grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday 10:00 am in Alsace Lutheran Church, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, Pa 19605. There will be no public viewing. Rev. Mark E. Brophy officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. Contributions may be made to the church.
