Dorothy Elizabeth "Bitsy" Stevenson passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2014 at the age of Eighty with her family at her side at Reading Hospital, Reading, PA, near her current residence in Oley, PA.
Born in Mt Vernon, NY, in 1934 to parents Walter John Boyne and Rita Rae Rigg Boyne.
Bitsy was predeceased by her loving husband and high school sweetheart, Peter B. Stevenson, to whom she was married for over 50 years.
Bitsy leaves behind her three children: Leslie T. Stevenson, Kimberly R.S. Conte and Peter B. Stevenson III; her siblings, sister, Rita Rae Boyne Van Beuren; brothers, Walter J. Boyne Jr. (deceased), Patrick T. Boyne; and half brother, Robert Rigg (deceased). Bitsy was grandmother to Cassondra Leng, John R. Conte III and David B. Conte, and great-grandmother to Logan Jake Palmer, with another on the way.
Bitsy graduated from Greenwich High School, served as president of the Cos Cob School PTA, and was a master seamstress and quilter. Prior to her retirement, Bitsy was the manager of Putnam Shoe Stores, a chain of seven stores throughout CT.
In recent years, Bitsy had created many new friends and loved ones at the Cavalry Chapel of the Oley Valley, PA, where she had become very active, hosting the weekly Bible study group with her dear friend Pastor Fred, among other church and community activities.
Bitsy was perhaps best known as a spirited "young-at-heart" friend to many and the consummate hostess, always welcoming, genuine and warm. Wherever she went, the aromas of fine home cooking would fill the air and draw people near. She will remain beloved in our hearts and minds forever.
A service will be held at Golden Oaks Golf Club, 10 Stonehedge Dr.; Fleetwood, PA on Sunday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m.
