Dorothy V. Bechtel

Dorothy V. Bechtel, 94, of Lenhartsville, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in the comfort of her own home. She was the widow of George D. Bechtel, who passed away on March 7, 1991.

Born in Albany township to the late John W. and Meda A. (Wink) Bailey, Dorothy was one of five children.

She and George built a life together working the farm his parents established.

Dorothy loved flowers and birding. Birds were a frequent motif in her needlepoint. She was a talented quilter and embroider. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Virginville Grange and volunteered for many years at their funnel cake stand at the Kutztown Folk Fest. She enjoyed her conversations with her friends at Dietrich's Meats & Country Store.

Left to treasure her memory are her children: Linda J., wife of Gregory Ganikon, of West Lawn; William D., husband of Roseann Bechtel, of Lenhartsville; and Thomas A., husband of Carolyn Bechtel, of Lenhartsville; grandchildren: Jennifer Ovechka (Troy); Carl Bechtel (Abbey); Ryan Bechtel (Caroline); and Stephen Bechtel (Morgan); and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, George, and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Jessica Molter.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 40 S 4th St, Hamburg PA, 19526, with interment to follow at New Bethel Zion (Grimville) Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
