Dorothea K. Stoudt

Dorothea K. (Kern) Stoudt, 86, formerly of Lincoln Park, passed away December 29, 2015 in Berks Heim.

She was the loving wife of John F. Stoudt, Sr. who died June 24, 2012.

Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Wendell G., Sr. and Dorothea B. (Bell) Kern.

Dorothea was a 1947 graduate of West Reading High School. She also attended Kutztown University, where she received her Bachelors and Masters in Art.

She was employed by the West Reading and Wyomissing School District as an elementary art teacher for 27 years. Dorothea was also a Sunday school teacher for Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Reading.

Dorothea was a member of the Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Mohnton.

She was very family oriented. Dorothea was a good mother always making sure family came first and that they were taken care of. She enjoyed spending her summers with family and friends in Ocean City, NJ

Dorothea is survived by her children, John F. Stoudt Jr., Spring Township; Jeffrey R. Stoudt, Laurel, MD, and Wendy D., wife of Steven Pauley, Sinking Spring. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Yoder, Spring Township; grandchildren, Melanie B. Weidner and Timothy L. Weidner, and great-grandchild, D. Rhys Orris.

She is predeceased by her twin brother Wendell G. Kern, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
