Dorothea C. Hughes, retired co-owner of a Reading travel agency, died Aug. 14 at 6:22 a.m. in her residence on Tewkesbury Drive, Wyomissing Hills.
Hughes, 83, was the wife of Maurice P. Hughes.
Hughes was owner with her husband of Roamer Tours, Reading, from 1966 until her retirement in 2000.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Levan) Carley.
Hughes was a 1937 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and a 1938 graduate of the Bryland Institute, Reading.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Hughes is also survived by a daughter, Sheila H. (Hughes) Stewart, Bernville.
Other survivors include a brother, Homer A. Carley, Shillington, and a sister, Joyce E. (Carley) Herbein, Laureldale.
There are also three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
