Doris L. Madenfort

Doris L. Madenfort, 87 of Hamburg died December 19th in her residence. Her husband Lewis "Mick" Madenfort died March 1, 1991. Doris was the daughter of the late Willoughby and Pearl (Dalby) Leiby. Doris was a 1942 graduate of Hamburg High School. She worked for ASH Pump, Hamburg for 30 years as a bookkeeper, and then worked for the Hamburg Center School as a secretary. Doris last worked for Holtzman State Farm Insurance Agency in Hamburg as a secretary. Doris was a long time member of the First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. She was a former member of the Hamburg B.P.W. and a current member of the Hamburg Senior Citizens. Doris was a founding and original member of the Hamburg Sewing Circle. This was a group of women who gathered every Friday evening to sew while their husbands were serving their country during WWII. Doris is survived by one daughter, Shelley and her fiancé Ron Broomhall of Leesport, one son-in-law, Glenn Haag of Hamburg, four grandchildren, Gretta wife of Keith Young of Hamburg, Bradley Haag of Caldwell, NJ, Zachary and Emily Beissel both of Leesport and 2 great grandchildren, Rebecca and Brandon Young. Doris was predeceased by one daughter, Priscilla M. "Prissie" Haag on March 24, 2010. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 22 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the First United Church of Christ, Third and Pine Streets, Hamburg. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg on Monday, December 26th at 11:00 AM. There will be no funeral procession from the funeral home.
