Doris M. Gibney, 89, formerly of Court Towers, Court Street, died Aug. 27 at 2:10 p.m. in the Mifflin Center, Cumru Township, where she had resided since March 2000.
Her husband, Edward F. Gibney, died April 17, 1976.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy (Getrost) Eckel.
Gibney was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Surviving are three sons: Christopher J., Wyomissing; Edward F. Jr., Allentown; and David E., Reading.
Other survivors include seven daughters: Margaret A. (Gibney) Brooks, Yardley, Bucks County; Marie S. (Gibney) Lynch, Temple; Rosemary (Gibney) Ross and Gertrude A. (Gibney) Oliver, both of Reading; Kathleen J. (Gibney) Crowell, Brecknock Township; Dorothy A. Gibney, Green Hills; and Teresa M. (Gibney) Hamilton, Honey Brook, Chester County.
Also surviving are a brother, Richard Eckel, Pennside, and a sister, Elizabeth (Eckel) Savidge, Reading.
There are also 41 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Gerald V. Gibney, in 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
