Doris A. (Moses) Lucas, 88, of Boyertown, passed away peacefully October 29, 2011.
Born in Chester Springs, she was the wife of the late Frank A. Lucas, and the daughter of the late Hurford and Lottie (Emery) Moses.
Doris was employed as a seamstress for Sircom Knitting in Spring City for many years until her retirement in 1985. She was also a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday school teacher, and volunteered for 25 years as a township voter representative for East Coventry Township.
Doris enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states. Among her other pleasures were visiting Canada and Lancaster County, watching the Flyers and the Phillies, and pampering her grandchildren.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Pottstown.
Doris is survived by two sons and their wives: Frank R. "Bobby" and Kathleen Lucas of Woburn, MA and Darryl B. and Cindy Lucas of Lititz; three daughters and their husbands: Sharon and Reginald Swavely of Pottstown, Sandra and Warren Lloyd of Boyertown, and Barbara and Timothy Custer of Boyertown; three sisters: Cema Witmer of Elverson, Gleta Herb of Pottstown, and Charlotte Wertman of Elverson; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: William H., Bruce, and Russell E. Moses.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 7, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church in Pottstown with Deacon Joseph Dietz officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 316 E. High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
