Doris B. Lefkowith, 89, passed away on Mother's Day May 13, 2012 in the Wyomissing residence of her son Jack, with whom she has resided since 1992.
She was the widow of Gerald W. Lefkowith who pre-deceased her in 1995.
Doris was born in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Harry and Rebecca (Lavin) Bernhang.
She graduated from Oxford High School and attended Temple University.
She is survived by her three children: Jack F., husband of Teri Lefkowith, Wyomissing; Robert S., husband of Pamela Lefkowith, Sinking Spring; and Don F., husband of Karen Lefkowith, Canada. Also surviving is her sister Joan Waldbaum, Wynnewood. There are seven grandchildren: Lisa, Jared, and Derek Lefkowith; Tracy Weiss and William Lefkowith; and Emily Palmer and Amelia Lefkowith. There are also seven great-grandchildren that survive her, three of whom; Harrison F, Maxwell W. and Samuel L. Weiss also resided with her. When not raising her three sons, and getting them to all of their athletic activities, Doris worked in her husband's business, Keystone Containers, Reading. She also worked in the fine jewelry department at Boscov's North for 10 years. She was a past president of the Reading Ladies Hadassah at Kesher Zion Synagogue. Along with her husband, she was very active in the Berks County Kennel Club while raising and showing both Doberman Pincher and Welsh Corgi breeds.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Kesher Zion Cemetery, Shillington.
