Doris M. Kurtz

Doris M. (Kozlowski) Kurtz, 92, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Hiryak) Kozlowski. On June 9, 1951, Doris married the love of her life, Joseph Kurtz. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just five days before his passing in 2011. She was employed in the Berkshire Knitting Mills before embarking on a long career with R.M. Palmer chocolate factory. Doris retired from a supervisory role after working there for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's RC Church in Reading.

Above all, Doris cherished her family. She loved babysitting the grands, family gatherings, and vacationing together in Ocean City, NJ where she enjoyed sunning on the deck, strolling the boardwalk, and shopping downtown.

A beloved mother and "Bobbi", Doris will be greatly missed by her three daughters: Kathleen Lubas (Alan) of Shillington, Cynthia Dresh (Keith) of Sinking Spring, and Kimberly Chapman (Gregory) of Sanatoga; grandchildren: Stacey Miller, Alissa Grove, Jared Kanavins, Todd Lubas, Austin Kanavins, Sarah Chapman, and Olivia Chapman; and great grandchildren: Aubrey, Owen, Samantha, Joshua, Eli, Adalyn, and Caleesi.

Doris was predeceased by brothers, John and Edward Kozlowski; sisters, Martha Hudzik and Marie Searfoss; and great granddaughter, Josie Grove.

A prayer service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in Chapel of the Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road Laureldale, PA 19605 with burial to follow.
