Doris B. Keen

Doris B. Keen, 82, of Sinking Spring passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, in the care of Reading Hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD, to the late Thomas and Edna (Garrett) Balkcom, Doris devoted herself to the study of Ottoman Architecture, and completed her Master Degree Work at Columbia University.

Doris loved learning about new places and cultures and was very adventurous, a trait she shared with her daughter. She was famous for her spontaneous trips. While living in Turkey for over 15 years, Doris taught English to eager Turkish students.

She treasured her friendships and enjoyed dining out at area restaurants with her girlfriends.

Left to treasure Doris's memory is her daughter, Delprat Keen, wife of Gurhan Kaya, of New York City, and her beloved grandchildren Savannah, Megan, and Leo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doris's memory may be offered to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
