Doris K. Koerner

Doris K. (Kennedy) Koerner, 78, of Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville, died November 4, 2006 at 3:20 am in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center, where she had been since October 28th.

She was the widow of Paul M. Koerner.

Born September 5, 1928 in Kearny, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Franklin W. and Jessica C. (Coe) Kennedy.

She was a 1946 graduate of Kearny High School and a 1951 graduate of Jersey City State Teachers College.

Doris was employed 19 years as an Registered Nurse with the Reading Hospital until her retirement in 1993. Doris was also a member of the Hospital's Auxiliary.

She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Whitfield.

Doris is survived by three daughters; Lois A. wife of Scott Kelly of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Linda J. wife of John Bravacos of Paoli, Pennsylvania and Lora B. wife of Rod Holland of Bloomington, Minnesota and a son, Larry P. husband of Wendy Koerner of Lawrence, Kansas.

Other survivors include two brothers, Edwin C. widower of Ginny Kennedy of Tyler, Texas and Phillip C. husband of Elinor Kennedy of Wernersville, Pennsylvania.

She is also survived by five grandchildren; Skylar, Jessica, Avery, Elizabeth and John.

Doris was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Kennedy and a grandson, Matthew Ruth.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, November 24th at 10:00am in St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Wilshire Blvd & Van Reed Road, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church's building fund at the above address or to the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County, 529 Reading Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
