Doris E. Hoffman

Doris Elaine (Kantner) Hoffman, 80, of Muhlenberg Township, died January 23, 2010 in the St. Joseph Medical Center.

She was the wife of Gerald "Jed" L. Hoffman, whom she married August 25, 1951.

Born in her Shillington residence on May 14, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James Lewis Kantner and Bessie Mae (Krick) Kantner.

She was a 1947 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Doris is also survived by seven children: Gerald L. Hoffman, Jr., of Laureldale; Michael L., husband of JoAnn B. (Seifrit) Hoffman of Muhlenberg Township; Barry L., husband of Cindy L. (Bogenschutz) Hoffman of Colebrookdale Township; Kathy A. (Hoffman), wife of Jimmy L. Kramer of Penn Township; David A., husband of Sherry A. (Rotkiske) Hoffman of Laureldale; Steven M. Hoffman of Temple and Lori L. Hoffman of Reading.

Other survivors include three siblings: Homer, husband of June Kantner of Laureldale; James, husband of Polly Kantner of Laureldale and Norma (Kantner), wife of Donald M. Wilson of Laureldale.

There are also twelve grandchildren surviving: Kristen, Jarad, Stefanie, Jamie, Jimmy, Casey, Samantha, Ross, Jessie, Timothy, Jake and Jacalyn.

Doris was predeceased by three siblings: Ruth Hanley, Jane Fix and Beverly Brossman.

Services will be Thursday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Viewings will be held Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Thursday, 9:30 am until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
