Doris Virginia Dawson

Doris V. Dawson, 93, of Cumru Township, passed away at Reading Hospital on Friday, October 13, 2023. She was the widow of Walter Dawson, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage before his passing in 1996.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Norman and Florence (Black) Lehman.

After graduating from Northeast High School in Philadelphia in 1947, Doris wholeheartedly embraced the beautiful journey of motherhood and it became her greatest joy and purpose in life. She was not only an exceptional mother, but an extraordinary grandmother and great-grandmother as well.

She enjoyed hosting dinner parties, puzzling, and taking trips to Shady Maple while stopping at farm stands along the way. She liked watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. In addition, Doris took pride in working at the voting polls in Flying Hills for over two decades. Her greatest joy, though, came from spending precious moments with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Doris is survived by her children: Walter N. Dawson, husband of Mary, of Downington, Debra, wife of Gary Smolinka, of Sinking Spring, Mark Dawson, husband of Donna, of Shillington, and Scott W. Dawson, husband of Cyndi, of Conyers, Georgia. She will be missed by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Norman Lehman and June (Lehman) Hafer; one grandson, Tyler; and one great-granddaughter, Kaya.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
