Donald C. Troutman

Donald C. "Dewey" Troutman, 94, of Lincoln Park, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the care of Berkshire Center. He was the widower of Frances Troutman, who passed away on January 29, 2001. Raised in Sinking Spring, he was the son of the late Charles Troutman and Eleanor E. Noll.

He graduated from Sinking Spring High School and served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later earned both a bachelor degree and master degree from East Stroudsburg University where he played basketball.

Mr. Troutman had a long career as both a schoolteacher and a coach. He taught social studies and physical education at the high school level. He began his career in the Wilson School District, then transitioned to Mt Penn, before retiring from Conrad Weiser.

His love of basketball was lifelong, and for over 40 years he served as a referee for girls and boys basketball leagues throughout the county. He was inducted into the Wilson Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was also an avid, passionate golfer who regularly shot his age and recorded 12(!) hole-in-ones.

His memory will be treasured by his children, Donna Keefe, wife of John of Sea Girt, NJ, and Michael Troutman, husband of Beth, of Menomonee Falls, WI; grandchildren, Carolyn and James Troutman, and Shannon, Erin, and Katie Keefe; and sister, Darlene Troutman.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to his church, St. John's Reformed Church, 4001 W Penn Ave, Reading, PA 19608.

Funeral Services for Donald will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading PA 19611, with committal to follow at Sinking Spring Cemetery.
