Donald R. Strausburger

Donald R. Strausburger, 51, of Wyomissing, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer March 22, 2013 in the loving arms of his wife at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the loving husband of Cynthia L. (Herbein) Strausburger, whom he married May 12, 1990.

Born in Palmerton, PA, he was a son of Joyce M. (Heydt) Strausburger and the late Dale F. Strausburger.

He was a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Multimedia Journalism.

Don worked as a DJ under the name Don Simpson for 15 years on Y102. He also worked as a mobile DJ, under the name Don Simpson, for Shamrock Sound and Party People. He worked thousands of weddings, parties and clubs, including Stopper's, The Loft, and Gilligan's Taproom. Later he worked as a sleep technologist for University Services of West Chester and, most recently, Lancaster General Hospital.

Don loved his wife and children and spending time with them. They enjoyed vacations to Myrtle Beach, listening to music together and having family game nights. He also loved watching his children swim; they were his pride and joy. He liked watching the Miami Dolphins and Boston Red Sox and was blessed to finally walk in his first Relay for Life in 2012. Don had a great sense of humor and enjoyed quirky off-the-wall movies and puns.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his two children: Nathan D. Strausburger and Danielle S. Strausburger, both at home. Also surviving are his siblings: Kay Miller, Virginia Beach; Debra Cherrie, West Lawn and Jane, wife of Jeffrey Zettlemoyer, Fleetwood. There are 8 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews surviving.

A memorial service will be held on Don's 52nd birthday – Friday April 19th at 7 p.m. at West Lawn United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to accounts set up for Nathan and Danielle, sent to Vanguard, 346 W. King St. Pottstown, PA 19464. Edward J.
