Donald E. Mulligan

Donald E. Mulligan, 85, of Franklin Street, Shillington, died July 10 at 9:50 a.m. in Hershey Medical Center, where he had been a patient one week.

He was the husband of Jennie G. (Ziemba) Mulligan.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John A. and Catharine (Wentzel) Mulligan.

Mulligan was employed for 28 years in the transportation department by Carpenter Technology Corp., retiring in 1981. Following his retirement, he was a volunteer tour guide there.

He was a past officer and life member of the Carpenter Technology Fellowship Club.

An Army veteran of World War II, Mulligan was a prisoner of war in Germany and received two bronze stars.

He was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

Mulligan is also survived by two sons, Donald R., Phoenix, and James D., Hershey; and a daughter, Rita E. (Mulligan) Miller, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include a sister, Alberta (Mulligan) Winterhalter, Reading; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
