Donald S. Mengel

Donald S. Mengel, 86 of Hamburg died December 31, 2012 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest where he had been a patient for several days. He wife F. Jane Mengel died February 2, 2005. Donald was born in Tilden Township and was the son of the late J. Stanley and Mabel (Seyfert) Mengel. He was a 1944 graduate of Hamburg High School and a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Township. Donnie worked as a steam fitter for Local 420 Philadelphia for 45 years retiring in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Keystone Social Club and Hamburg Fish and Game Association. He was also a member of the Hamburg Moose Lodge #523. Donald was an avid golfer and Dallas Cowboys Fan. Donald is survived by 1 daughter: Rebecca (Mengel) wife of Lee Hoch, Hamburg, 1 son; Donald L. Mengel and his companion Tricia Cramer, 2 granddaughters; Jessica L. Hoch-Allen wife of Nicholas Allen, Washington, DC and Katie R. Mengel, Hamburg. He is also survived by his companion Mary Ann Leisey, Hamburg, 4 sisters; Shirley widow of Donald Herring, Kutztown, Joan wife of Clair Miller, Reading, Barbara wife of Marvin Savage, Blandon, Linda wife of Richard Weitzel, Muhlenberg Township, 3 brothers; Richard husband of Marie Mengel, Slatington, James husband of Barbara Mengel, Leesport and Terry husband of Maryellen Mengel, Leesport. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Miller and a brother Harold Mengel. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
