Donald J. "Dutch" Chelius, 82, passed away December 25, 2016 in his Spring Township home where he spent Christmas Eve surrounded by his family.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Barbara A. (Seyfert) Chelius, his son Matthew L., and brothers Luke, Robert and David.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Luke A. and Caroline M. (Rufe) Chelius.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1952 and Villanova University in 1957 earning a degree in Civil Engineering.
Dutch was employed by various companies, last working at Tray Pak Corporation. After retirement he enjoyed driving people to the airport.
He was an original member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield and served on the board of directors for the Olivet Boys and Girls Club for 12 years.
Many of Dutch's passions included playing bridge, golf, organ and the role of Santa Claus at Christmas time. He also loved attending Wilson High School sporting events and never missed a Friday night football game.
He is survived by his three sons: Mark J., Allentown, John D. and his wife Denise, Whitfield and Joseph L., West Lawn; along with three grandchildren: Cody, Cassidy and Maxton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9:30 am in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Olivet Boys & Girls Club, 1161 Pershing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. Edward J.
