Donald I. Hinkle, 89, formerly of Mifflin Park, passed away July 30, 2016 in his Cumru Township residence in the arms of his daughter and into the arms of Jesus.
He was the loving husband of Verna (Correnti) Hinkle, who died April 19, 2012 and with whom he is finally reunited and dancing in heaven... together forever.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Isaac O. and Gertrude (Clinton) Hinkle.
Donald was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II.
He was employed by Interstate Container Corp, Reading, as a plant manager for 44 years until his retirement but continued to consult even after retirement.
Donald was a long time member of St. John de la Salle Baptist R.C. Church, Shillington.
He was a former chairman of Mid-Atlantic Box Association, chairman of TAPPI and served on the advisory board of Industrial Management Council.
Donald was an avid golfer after retirement. He loved spending time with his family, going to the auto races with his son and traveling with his wife and family.
He is survived by his children, Donald I. Hinkle Jr., Pattaya, Thailand and Cynthia L., wife of George F. Legezdh, Cumru Township. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Donald is predeceased by his sister Dorothy Valentine.
The family would like to extend their great appreciation to Donald's caregivers, Jennifer and Linda for their great care and undivided attention and dedication.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August, 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Johns de la Salle R.C. Church, Shillington with burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Contributions can be made to St. Johns de la Salle R.C.
