Donald L. Eastburn

Donald Lewis Eastburn, 85, of Muhlenberg Township, died September 1, 2009 at 7:40 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since August 22nd.

He was the husband of Betty Ann (Kramer) Eastburn, whom he married May 12, 1947.

Born in his Reading residence on August 15, 1924, he was a son of the late Samuel L. and Nellie M., (Croft) Eastburn.

He was a graduate of Reading High School and attended Albright College, Reading.

Donald was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

He was employed a number of years in the Quality Control Department with Western Electric, Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1983.

Donald is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl J., wife of Carl C. Volker of Centre Township; three grandchildren: Peter J. Sweimler, Julie A. Hoffman and Laura E. Sweimler and a great grandson, Kyle J. Hoffman.

Other survivors include a sister, Jean, wife of Kenneth Christman of Trexlertown.

Donald was predeceased a daughter, Kathleen Ann Sweimler, who died October 16, 1992 and two brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Alsace Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
