Donald D. DeMuzio, 77, died at home in his Riverview Park residence in Muhlenberg Township on September 5, 2007 at 2:25 PM. He was the husband of Grace T. (Hulme) DeMuzio whom he married June 21, 1952. Born on October 11, 1929 in Cambridge, MA, Donald was a son of the late Hector P. and Elizabeth (Antico) DeMuzio. He was a 1947 graduate of Medford High School, MA, where he had been elected President of the Senior Class. He also graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951, where he completed undergraduate work in Mechanical Engineering and graduate work in Electrical Engineering. Donald was employed by Western Electric/ AT&T in Reading, PA as a supervising engineer and department head until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church in Hyde Park, Reading PA.

Donald, an avid skier and sailor, was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 37 years, serving as patrol director at Sharp Mountain and Heidelberg/Blue Marsh Ski Areas and a professional patroller at Blue Mountain. He received an NSPS National Appointment and served as the Central Section Chief for Eastern PA. Donald was a member of the United States Power Squadron. He achieved the rank of Navigator and was awarded the Henry E. Sweet Educational Award and Life Membership for completion of all courses and meritorious service. Donald also participated in the Blue Marsh Sailing Association, and was a former president and member of the Flying Dutchman Ski Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David G., husband of Clarissa (Barnes) deMuzio of Bala Cynwyd, PA; two daughters, Anne M. (DeMuzio), wife of David M. Smith of Myerstown; and Elizabeth D. (DeMuzio), wife of Patrick J. Slater of Reading. Also surviving is a sister Constance (DeMuzio) Kehoe of Medford, MA. Donald was predeceased by a brother Richard DeMuzio. There are six grandchildren; Brian D. Smith, Justin T. Smith, Emmett T. deMuzio, Francesca G. deMuzio, Sean P. Slater and Caroline G. Slater.

Donald was an exemplar to all who knew him, and beloved by them as well.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 10:30 AM in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park, Reading, PA. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass, at the church.
