Dominic Manzella, 89, died June 21, 2007 in his Laureldale residence.
He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Graul) Manzella, whom he married on October 26, 1946.
Born March 23, 1918 in Reading, he was a son of the late Dominic Manzella, Sr. and Rose (Lasa) Manzella Sardo.
He retired from Dana Corp in 1981 as Chief of Security.
Dominic was the active Mayor of the Borough of Laureldale and had served in that capacity for a total of 59 years.
He also served as a councilman and constable for 25 and 4 years respectively.
He was a member of Rosedale U.C.C., Laureldale.
Dominic was a life member of the Chiefs of Police Association, serving in various capacities; he was a life member of the Schuylkill Valley Chapter for Industrial Security. He was a member of the Mayors' Association and had served as their President. He was a member of Central Fire Co., Laureldale AA and Temple and Muhlenberg Democratic Clubs. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 62, F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Reading and Rajah Temple.
Manzella was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He is survived by his son Jon C., husband of Madilyn (Stafford) of Ithaca, NY and his three daughters, Candace R. wife of Carl Shaeffer of Wyomissing, Dorothy D. Lohr of Leesport and Donna D. Lamanda of Wyomissing.
There is also one sister, Mary J. (Sardo) wife of Carl Killian, Guilford, CT.
Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive him.
Graveside services in Gethsemane Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army 301 South 5th Street Reading, PA 19602 or to the American Heart Association 25 Stevens Avenue West Lawn, PA 19609.
