Dominic J. Cammarano

Dominic Joseph Cammarano, Jr., 74, of Spring Township and formerly of W. Kent Rd., Laureldale, died May 11, 2007 at 2:15 pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since May 4th.

He was the widower of Dolores A. (Ciotti) Cammarano, who died October 10, 2000.

Born February 27, 1933 in Hazelton, PA, he was a son of the late Dominic J. Sr., and Anna Carmella (DiShanni) Cammarano.

He was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School.

Dominic was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park, where he was a former cantor and choir member.

He and his brothers owned BCG Insurance, Reading for 34 years. They were later purchased by Gallen Insurance, Shillington, where he continued to work until 2006.

Dominic and his brothers also owned two Donny's Sandwich Shops in Reading for over 25 years.

He is survived by five children; Dominic J. Cammarano III, D.O. husband of Catherine M. (VanLeer) of Lower Heidelberg Township; Steven P. husband of Laurie A. (Landis) Cammarano of Spring Township; Lisa A. (Cammarano) fiance of Terry Mohler of Kenhorst; Christine M. (Cammarano) wife of James Patrick McGlory of Spring Township and Annette M. (Cammarano) wife of Xavier F. Eikerenkoetter of Malibu, California.

Other survivors include a brother, Peter N. husband of Rachael (Perta) Cammarano of Spring Township and a sister, Anna C. (Cammarano) wife of James Tomasi of Exeter Township.

There are also 13 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph M. Cammarano and three sisters; Antoinette Cammarano, Maureen E. Fabriziani and Anella M. Aulenbach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Hyde Park. A visitation will be held Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dominic J. Cammarano, Jr. Music Scholarship Fund.
