Domingo Rivera

Domingo Rivera, 81, passed away in his Reading residence, Friday, April 9th, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Maria (Gerena) Rivera. The couple married on January 12th, 1964, in their hometown of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.

Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on November 1, 1939, Domingo was a son of the late Dominico Rivera and Maria Medina Rivera.

Domingo was employed for 30 years with the former General Battery, Exide Battery until retirement. He was a faithful and devoted member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in the Southside.

Domingo leaves behind to cherish his memory six children, Carmen Herrera Rivera of Reading, Maria Rivera of Reading, Roberto "Pete" Rivera, husband of the late Maria Garcia of Reading, Ediberto "Eddie" Rivera and his wife, Elizabeth of Reading, Myriam Rivera of Reading and Adalberto "Bert" and Litza Murillio- Rivera of Reading; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Wilson, Cody, Tyler, Ediberto Jr. and Nathaniel; five great grandchildren, Juelz, Jazzlyn, Melanie, Skylar and Elias; a special niece, Damaris Rodriguez and her daughter, Avery Franceschi and five siblings, Auera E. Rivera of Yabucoa, PR, Carmen Rodriguez of Reading, Pedro J. Rivera of Trenton, NJ, Domingo Rivera of Mohrsville and Edwin LeBron of Trenton, NJ.

Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Domingo is predeceased by nine siblings: Dolores Rivera, Julia Rivera, Pedro Rivera, Enrique Rivera, Emilio Benítez, Herman Rivera, Carmen Lydia Rivera, Angelina "Angie" Santana and Maria Rivera LeBron.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Domingo's home church on Thursday, April 15th, 2021 at 9:00 am in St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 322 S 5th St., Reading, PA 19602. A public viewing will be held Wednesday evening, April 14th, 2021 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Domingo will be laid to rest beside his sweetheart, Maria in Gethsemane Cemetery, Reading.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter the Apostle RCC, 322 S 5th St., Reading, PA 19602 in memory of Domingo Rivera.
