Domenico G. Gentile, 95, of Sinking Spring, passed away on January 20, 2022, at Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving children.
His wife, Giordana, passed away in 2010, after having been blessed with over 56 years of marriage.
Born in Andali, Catanzaro, Italy, he was a son of the late Domenico and Maria Lavorati.
Dominic, as known to many, was employed by Berkshire Knitting Mills before becoming a specialty steelworker at Carpenter Technologies, from where he retired in 1987. He appreciated his employment with CarTech, and enjoyed connecting with fellow retirees at their social club weekly for many years.
Our Dad seized the opportunities of the American dream and U.S. citizenship at a young age, then proudly lived those ideals to the fullest. He also infused old world traditions into his new life; enjoyed cooking, making homemade wine and vegetable gardening into his 90's. He was a positive, selfless man, tough and self-reliant, who always looked after his family, friends and neighbors. His family was his life and his greatest treasure.
He is survived by three children: Maria G, wife of Falco DiBiase; Antonio, husband of Fran (Nigrelli) Gentile; and Savio, husband of Terry (Dex) Gentile. There are five grandchildren: Annamaria (Matt Dolinsky), Gina (Todd Knorr), Melissa, Adrianna (Andrew Zaleski), and Tony; and five great-grandchildren: Matthew, John Paul, Joseph, Madden, and Cameron.
Domenico was predeceased by his three siblings: Tommaso, Savio, and Bettina
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Reading Hospital who cared so lovingly for their Dad.
