Dolores "Dell" Agatha Tazik passed away at home peacefully on August 2, 2013.
Her husband, Andrew F. Tazik, died May 12, 2005.
Born in Reading on December 23, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude (Robinska) and George Ehrmann.
After working at Berkshire Knitting Mills, she enlisted in the US Army. She served as a Sergeant in the Pacific Theater during WWII under General Douglass MacArthur. She was called upon to join the medical staff on occasion in tending to injured servicemen after the Battle of Corregidor and the Bataan Death March.
She met her husband at a USO dance and after marrying on September 11, 1948, embarked upon the adventure of living in a converted gas station. Together they built a larger residence to house their growing family which topped out at seven children. Dell then re-entered the work force, where she first worked as a secretary for a real estate agent in the 1970's. She then discovered her love of sales first at Lit Brothers in the newly constructed Berkshire Mall and later at Pomeroy's and The Bon Ton. As the years went by, she moved to part time sales, reluctant to give up her passion for meeting new people while serving them. During this time, she indulged in her love of gardening, music, and travel, attending concerts and visiting her children and friends throughout the U.S. She was especially proud to be a charter member of the Women's Military Memorial in Washington, DC.
Dolores was a life-long member of St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, Mohnton.
She had seven children: Michael Tazik of Morgantown, John Tazik of Mohnton, Andrea Sessions of Escondido, CA, Andrew P. Tazik (deceased), Mary Golder of Escondido, CA, Christina More of Laytonsville, MD, Paul Tazik of Mohnton and nine grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 12 p.m. in St. Benedict's Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the church.
