Diane F. Smith

Diane F. Smith, 28 of Bernville died Saturday, October 9, 2010 in the home of her parents. She was born in Reading and was the daughter of Glenna F. (Hix) and Nevin A. Smith, Jr. Diane was a 2000 graduate of Hamburg Area High School and a 2008 graduate of Kutztown University. She proudly served in the United States Navy during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2000 to 2004. After graduating from Kutztown, she worked at Threshold in Reading as a social worker. Diane was a life member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Township. In addition to her parents, she is survived by 2 sisters, Angela Smith, Bernville and Jamie Smith, Shoemakersville. She is also survived by aunts and uncles, Donna (Smith) wife of Leroy Kaley, Shoemakersville, Debbie Smith wife of Jeff Himmelberger, Hamburg, Lorraine (Hix) wife of Glenn Reinert, Laureldale, John Hix husband of Donna (Cantore) Hix, Bernville, Robert Hix husband of Letecia (Cabida) Hix, Bernville, Gerald Hix, Bernville, Eugene Hix husband of Debbie (Stetzler) Hix, Mohrsville, Larry and Barry Hix of Missourie and Terry Hix husband Kim Hix, Bethel, and grandparents Rae and Glenna (Spatz) Hix of Bernville. Diane is survived by several cousins and second cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents Nevin A. Smith, Sr. and Alice V. (Hargreaves) Smith. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM from St. Michaels Church, Tilden Township. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Township.
