Dennis M. Zerr

Dennis M. Zerr, 67 of Reading died in his residence May 21st surrounded by his loving family. He was born in West Reading and was the son of the late Harold S. and Arlene (Dillon) Zerr. Dennis was a 1964 graduate of Reading High School and a former pitcher for the Reading Phillies from 1964 through 1965. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Dennis was also the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Marksman (Rifle) and a Purple Heart. Dennis worked in maintenance at the Fairgrounds Farmers Market for many years retiring in 2005. He was a member of the American Legion of Fleetwood. Dennis is survived by a daughter Sandra wife of Phillip M. Jones, Reading, a son Raymond E. Zerr, Hamburg, one step son, Michael husband of Bonnie Pilat, Boston, MA., one step daughter Ramona Kehl, Schuylkill Haven. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four step grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27th at 10:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
