Dennis Thomas Ruano

Dennis T. Ruano, 84, of Kenhorst, passed away Sunday morning, October 22, 2023, peacefully at his home. He was the husband of Barbara (Shisslak) Ruano and was married to his lovely bride for 63 years having passed on their anniversary. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of Camillo and Ora (Eckenroth) Ruano.

Dennis is retired from Carpenter Technology where he was employed for 35 years as a Mechanical Tester. In addition, Dennis worked tirelessly with his family's business, Ruano Brothers in Birdsboro, PA. Dennis graduated from Reading Catholic High School in 1957 and attended Reading Business Institute.

A member of the Church of St. Benedict, Dennis was a Knight of Columbus, a member of the Prime Timers, and an alter server. Prior to joining St. Benedict, he was a long-time parishioner of SS. Cyril and Methodious Church, Reading.

Affectionately known as "Gramps" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Dennis was a frequent spectator at sporting events and dance recitals. He took pride in showing off his train collection to them. Dennis spent many summers building family memories at the beach, most notably Dewey and OBX. He had a passion for classic cars and family pets. Dennis enjoyed the company of his friends from the gym.

In addition to Barbara, Dennis is survived by daughters: Michele Ruano-Weber of Wyomissing; Julianne Maslar, wife of Matthew, of Douglassville; Francine Claytor of Sinking Spring; and Monica Ruano-Wenrich, wife of Kevin, of Mohnton, six grandchildren: Michael Weber of Ephrata; Jillian Weber, fiancé of Jeffrey Graham, of Wyomissing; Megan Reeser, wife of Mark, of Douglassville; Nicholas Claytor of Sinking Spring; and Colin and Olivia Wenrich of Mohnton, three great-grandchildren: Ryan Graham, Benjamin Reeser, and Jackson Reeser. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Ruano) Nierle, wife of David, of Greensboro, NC and a nephew, Kevin Nierle, husband of Jennifer, also of NC.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, with interment at Gethsemane Cemetery to follow. The visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of St. Benedict at the above address.
