Dennis G. Flemming, 80, of Wernersville, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Phillips) Flemming, having shared 56 wonderful years together.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Francis G. and Mary S. (Boyer) Flemming. Like his seven siblings, Dennis was a graduate of Central Catholic High School (Class of 1965), which made his parents very proud. He was drafted into the US Army (1965) and served two years in Germany before returning to marry his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann. Dennis held many jobs over the course of his life. He worked for Penn Cigar Sales and Brenheiser Tobacco Company. He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 33 years of service as a sales rep for Eastern PA.
Dennis loved playing golf in Bermuda and was a member of Golden Oaks. He loved to travel to Bermuda where he met a good friend, Christian Swan. His other favorite travels included summers at the Jersey Shore as well as Disney World, all with family and friends. He enjoyed cutting the grass at his son's home, and cherished time he spent with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
A devout Catholic, Dennis was raised in St. Paul's Church. He later became a member of St. Joseph's Parish and St. Francis de Sales. He served as President of Holy Name as a CYO representative, was active in parish fundraisers, coaching baseball, and various committees as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He volunteered at the Conrad Weiser Food Pantry with his son in law.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Patricia A., wife of Joseph Carter of Sinking Spring; son, Patrick J., husband of Ann Flemming (Bates) of Mohnton; grandchildren, Krystina and Nikolas; and sister in law, Kathleen Phillips, whom he called his second wife. He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Elinor (Richard) Fitzpatrick and is survived by sisters: Mary Eileen (Robert) Burkholder, Sheila (Harvey) Dauber, and Anne (James) McGlone; brothers: Gregory (Barbara) Flemming, Joseph (Carol Ann) Flemming, and John (Marianne) Flemming; as well as many nieces and nephews.
