Deborah L. Long

Deborah "Debbie" L. Long, 74, of Reading, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, in the care of Berks Heim.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Walter H. T. Long and Gladys (Kramer) Krammes, wife of Stanford Krammes. After graduating from Reading High School, Debbie worked for a few years at Carpenter Tech before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where she served her country with honor.

She was very proud to graduate from Alvernia University with her bachelor's degree in business and addictions counselling. She took many classes through Albright, including a class that enabled her to study Humpback Whales in Maui. She was also a certified Master Gardener through Penn State.

She retired from Western Electric/Lucent/Agere Systems as a Production Manager. Having lived on the hill for many years, Debbie happily volunteered at the Reading Pagoda and was helpful to a lot of people during her life.

She was especially fond of West Highland White Terriers, of which she raised several. Her last companion, Bailey, will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her aunts, Sally Jerdan of New Jersey and Ellen Heckard of Newmanstown, as well as cousins and extended family. She is also survived by adopted relatives, Dolores and Joey Johnson of Laureldale, and her step-aunt, Janet Krammes, widow of Lester, of Pinegrove. Debbie is also survived by close friends, Bruce and Dottie Gressley and Stephen Dietrich.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at St John's Hains Church, Church Road, Wernersville, PA.
