Dean H. Kelsey, a retired Albright College official, died Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient one week.

Kelsey, 89, of the Highlands at Wyomissing, formerly of Willow Grove Avenue, Muhlenberg Park, was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Thomson) Kelsey, on Dec. 28, 2000.

He was employed from 1958 to 1968 as an associate controller by Trinity College, Hartford, Conn., from 1958 to 1968 and was last employed as vice president of business by Albright College from 1968 until 1978 when he was named vice president emeritus.

Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Earl and Eva (Sweet) Kelsey.

Kelsey was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ, Wyomissing.

Kelsey received a bachelor's degree from Oberlin College, Ohio, in 1934; and a master's degree in economics from Trinity College, in 1964.

He was a director a treasurer and past president of the Friends of the Reading Public Museum.

Kelsey was a former director of the Reading Kiwanis Club and the Greater Berks Development Fund.

He was a committee member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers from 1958 to 1978.

Kelsey served on the finance committee at the Highlands at Wyomissing from 1999 to 2000.

He was a former consultant to Atlantic County (N.J.) Community College.

Surviving are two sisters, Carolyn (Kelsey) Wolf, Valparaiso, Ind., and Martha Kelsey, Ithaca, N.Y.

Graveside services will be private in Bovina Cemetery, Bovina Center, N.Y. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
