David G. Spaeth

David G. Spaeth, 82, died December 8, 2013, in his Wyomissing residence.

He was the husband of Rena (Zuccarini) Speath.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George D. and Elsie I. (Eisenhower) Spaeth.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1948 and Villanova University in 1952 where he earned a BS in Business Administration.

David was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army in their intelligence division.

He was an agent for John Hancock, Reading, for 35 years, retiring in 1988.

David was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

He was a master bridge player, and loved to golf and fish.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his six children: George D., Colony Park; Lorraine A. Spaeth, Washinton Twp., NJ; Charles M, Lake Tahoe, CA; Mary Alice, wife of Robert, Jr. Skimski, Oley; David G., Jr., husband of Colleen, Atlanta, GA; and Elizabeth A., wife of Donald Mengel, Wyomissing. Nine grandchildren, Jessica, Maria, Rebecca, Robert, III, Matthew, Amber, Ashley, Sydney and Brady, one expectant grandchild and one great-granddaughter, Juliana, also survive him.

The family would like to thank the VNA/Hospice, and other volunteers, for all their support this past year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
