David Peters

David Peters, 82, formerly of Shoemakersville, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, in the care of the Wyomissing Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of the late Linda (Patches) Peters, who passed away in 2014. David and Linda met at a county fair and married in October of 1962.

Born in Booneville, KY, David was a son of the late Leonard Peters and Eva (Peters) Peters. When David was a young child, his parents moved the family from Kentucky to Pennsylvania when Leonard was presented with a career opportunity.

David began as a caretaker at the old Blue Falls Grove before leaving to work for his brother in law, George Rubright. David worked as a carpenter for Rubright Construction for many years. He was very proud of his finish work and enjoyed painting houses as he found it relaxing. He was a hard working man.

David was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church of Shoemakersville for many years. Among the many things David did for the church, he and his daughter refurbished the manger for the nativity scene.

For over 20 years, David served with Boy Scout Troop 163, his grandson's troop. David was proud to see his only grandson become an Eagle Scout. An antique car enthusiast who owned a 1930 Model A, David organized Troop 163's antique car and recruited sponsors for the show for many years.

David's family would like to thank the dedicated team of nurses and aids who cared for him.

Left to treasure his memory are his daughter, Maryann Ramsey (Keith) of Shillington, and his grandson, Adam Ramsey of Lancaster. David is also survived by nine brothers and sisters.

A service for David will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 354 Zion Church Rd, Shoemakersville, PA 19555. Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at burkeydriscoll.com.Â
