David P. Grebe

David P. Grebe, 76, of Oley, passed away August 11, 2017, in his residence.

He was the husband of Carol A. (Seyfert) Grebe whom he married on September 16, 1967.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Harold A. and Alice M. (Raybold) Grebe.

David was employed as an associate engineer at Met-Ed for 29 years before his retirement in 1995.

He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served from 1958-1963 including during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Dave was a volunteer firefighter for a total of 50 years. He volunteered at several fire companies which included West Reading, Goodwill (where he was named an honorary lifetime member), and Oley. He also volunteered as an EMT for Oley Fire Company Ambulance for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Met-Ed Retirees' Association, the Oley Lions Club, and a long-time volunteer for the Oley Valley Community Fair. Dave was a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of SYA for more than 50 years.

Dave enjoyed trips to the Poconos and shore, and all aspects of nature, especially bird watching and gardening. What was most important to Dave was his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Mark D., husband of Heather Grebe, Mohnton; and Karen L. Tremblay, Reading; three grandchildren: Jameson, Cassidy, and Samuel; and one sister, Marjorie Baer, West Reading.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, 19611. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30- 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
