David E. Figura

David E. Figura, Sr., 81, of Muhlenberg Township, died April 16, 2009 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Audrey M. (Dillon) Figura, whom he married October 6, 1956.

Born October 28, 1927 in Johnstown, Cambria County, he was a son of the late William Francis and Delores (Quinn) Figura.

David was a 1946 graduate of Bishop McCort High School, as well as a graduate of Cambria Rowe Business School, both in Johnstown.

He was employed by GMAC for 34 years, retiring in 1988 as a District Representative.

David was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Muhlenberg Township, where he served as an usher for 17 years.

He was a past President of Johnstown JayCees, a member of Catholic Athletic Association of Bishop McCort, Johnstown; co-founder of Johnstown Hockey Peewee Hockey League; a member of Old Timers Baseball Association, Johnstown and a baseball coach at MTAA, Muhlenberg Township.

David was inducted into the Bishop McCort Hall of Fame in 1946.

Also surviving are three children: David E., Jr., husband of Melissa A. (Cahn) of Spring Township; Pamela M. (Figura), wife of Frank W. Wisniewski of Muhlenberg Township and Douglas J., husband of Karen L. (Leas) Figura of Sinking Spring.

In addition there is a sister, Carol (Figura), wife of Robert Rebar of Johnstown, also surviving.

There are six grandchildren, Chad M. Wisniewski, Jeremy D., Jonathon D., Joseph D., Joshua D. and Jimmy D. Figura also surviving.

David was predeceased by two brothers, William and Donald Figura.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
